Have you ever had an accident while making the bed? I'm sure there are lots of things that can happen, I
want to warn you of one that just happened to me.
Surely you all are familiar with popping the sheet while trying to get it in the right position. Well I
was performing this possibly too energetically today. As in most bedrooms the light fixture is positioned
above the bed and now you can probably guess what happened. While giving it one last air fluff for the
sheet to fall in just the right position to tuck, I ran it into the glass light cover. I have not seen
so much chaos in a long time. I had glass shards everywhere!
What was going to be a quick bedding change now turned into a major cleanup operation. My first priority
was to stop the bleeding on my ankle where some of the flying glass cut me. Once that was accomplished,
the now glass filled sheets and pillow cases had to be carefully removed. The glass picked out of them
and then outside to shake. Once they were back in the washer, I returned to the scene of the accident.
The vacuum had to be run to suck up any pieces of glass on the carpet, boy I hope I got them all! With
this being complete I'm thinking I am back to where I started this morning. But noooo not so! I
look up and although I have a mostly naked light fixture with just the bulbs now, there is still a jagged
piece of glass remaining just daring me to make the bed again.
Well now I'm thinking of all the things that could happen to me, a disabled person if I tried to climb up
on the bed to unscrew the nut which holds this piece of glass that is now taunting me. Ha, I'm
smarter than that! So off I go to find someone to complete this for me. Luckily I found our
maintenance man available and he kindly did it for me.
Upon reflection of my day I can now laugh at it, but at the time it was really an aggravation. But there
is a warning to anybody that makes a bed in my tale. Be careful how hard you pop your sheets on the sky
could fall on you!
