Christmas 2011 Outdoor Displays

This was just the house. It was difficult to capture all the lights because they were going on and off so fast. This image is from the Duda fan page, you can click on it and see more pictures.

We went on our annual drive to search out Christmas light displays this week and instead of hitting the same ones here,  we drove to a nearby town to see what they had to offer. We weren't disappointed, although there weren't as many folks putting out lights, the one's we saw were quite nice.

As it turns out my Sister, her husband and I have done this now for about 5 years now, and we always have lots of fun. We go to dinner and then off to find the "lights". This year we drove about 25 miles west of our town to Marionville, Mo. I had read about a home that has 130,000 lights that cycle to synchronized music. It takes them around 4 months and lots of help to assemble, they even have a fan page!

It was another great night for viewing outdoor lighting, and if the lights  could talk they would say, Merry Christmas everyone!

It was hard to capture everything in the yard because they were blinking on and off so quick.

Then we moved on to other displays in Marionville.

I couldn't believe how big those bulbs were, they were at least 2' in diameter! Thanks for coming by Soovivers!

Very festive, Rottlady, and I loved the little cropped version in the corner at the top. My favorite though, is the last one with its mystical motion -- Santa tracks! LOL:)

The last picture is really cool rottlady! Thanks for this post. Really love seeing the light decorations people come up with. The decline of people doing is probably folks are having trouble affording to keep the lights on in their houses much less outside.

I imagine you are right about folks not being able to afford it, but I'm glad some still do it! Thanks for stopping by.

These are great RL.

I have been less than satisfied with my attempts at nighttime photos, they come out blurry and have an eerie "yellow" glow to them.

I need to learn how to use my manual settings to achieve the looks I want as the "scene" mode doesn't always get the effect I see in my minds eye.

One thing, you need to steady your camera as best as you can, either with a tripod or something like a bean bag/ or just propping your arm on something. It's easy to blur because the shutter is so slow. I usually take more than one if possible using different "scene" modes to get what I want.

Thanks for coming by!
