Santa doesn't always sport a long white beard and shimmy down chimneys.

Late Tuesday morning, he stopped by Kmart on South Campbell Avenue wearing street clothes and a trim white goatee. Identifying himself only as Kris (as in Kringle), the man approached the layaway counter and pulled out a stack of $50s.

"He said he wanted to pay off some layaways," said employee Brandon Scott who was behind the counter.
