Yesterday, my Sister and I took a short drive to downtown Springfield, Missouri to scope out the latest attraction, a Seascape Mural. I did a little research to find out more specifics once we got home and this is the story I found about the wonderful paintings.
Inspired by dangers faced by wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico after the recent oil disaster, Susan Sommer-Luarca painted a mural that depicts an undamaged underwater wildlife scene with manatees, whales, eagle rays, turtles and fish. The scene is intended to raise awareness of marine life in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. It's painted on the TCI Graphics Inc. building at 615 W. College Street (Historic Route 66) in Springfield, Missouri.
