Howdy to all you good Newsviner's and Happy Halloween! Get you costumes on and fix yourself something to drink and let's have a party!

Or maybe you have the perfect libation, the perfect snack or maybe just have a great story to tell. It's time to share and have some fun.

So let's get this party started!

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Thanks. P.S. My former dog Cocoa who was a deer head pure bred chihuahua.. which was my avatar for a long time... had a super man costume like the picture in your article my g/f bought him. I even had a name tag chain made with the superman for him. Was cool. Called him that cause he had long legs and leaped like a kangaroo. lol.

I remember seeing Cocoa as your avatar, he sounds like he was a cool dog.

I never had a small enough dog (or one that would tolerate a costume) so I can only get my dog costume fix from pictures. The rotties liked bandannas but that was pretty much all I could get them to wear.

I didn't mean that "worth watching" the way it sounded. I used to love to watch the history channel and really old black and white movies, especially Bette Davis. We have a bunch of channels, too. I hope you don't have nightmares, but I find if I watch anything scary or upsetting at night, I have nightmares. I probably should stay off NV at night, too. LOL

@PenniD -- I love old Bette Davis movies, too! Have you seen "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"? Now there's a nice cozy film for Halloween week, yes. Especially when she delivers a dinner to her sis and casually mentions that she caught a rat in the house.

Hey, put at least one bag of that candy in the freezer -- it will keep perfectly OK. Take a bag (or half a bag) to work for emergencies. We won't tell on you if you eat all the rest. BUT WAIT -- are you sure that the trick or treating was last night in your city? Lots of them have moved it to Sunday afternoons. So check online, in the paper, or with neighbors.

I did not give out treats or get any visitors -- am in an apt. Pooh. That's no fun. I just spent time online like usual. Boo to you and you and you, and Happy Halloween.

I've seen that movie, MinnieApolis, and was grossed out by the big, fat rat she did put on the tray. UGH. I love Mrs. Skeffington, Dark Victory, and Now Voyager. I adore one of her first movies -- Of Human Bondage. She steals the movie from Leslie Howard. She was a great actress and made many marvelous movies.

All classics, Penni. Have you seen Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte? Or The Corn is Green, where she plays a Welsh schoolteacher. She plays a Southern belle in Jezebel (woo what a delish film) -- I remember before seeing it that I couldn' t imagine a Maine girl playing a Southern belle convincingly. Boy did she prove me wrong. You gotta check out the documentary about her which follows her from the beginning up to her senior years when she recovered from a stroke and went on speaking tours.

I have seen all of those, including the documentary. I am a huge fan. Speaking of southern roles, she tore up the scenery on The Little Foxes, didn't she? Bette Davis was an amazing actress, with a huge range, not merely a pretty face who could pose. She will be missed by film lovers. I even read her book, not one of her best efforts, though.

I live in a apartment complex and I don't think there is even one kid living around here. So I just locked the door and turned off the light. Ha! More candy for me!

That's odd, rottlady, I live in an apartment that is lousy (no offense) with kids. They swing from the bushes every day, but not one of the little ones has knocked on the door for candy. I thought we'd get to see some of them. We don't have a reputation (yet) for being the mean old people, in fact, I am quite friendly with some of them. Strange.

Well, the landlord focuses on older quieter people in this building and the one directly across from me has mostly Bible college students in it. We live just down the road for a Bible College. She owns a bunch of apartments and I guess she puts families somewhere else. Which is ok with me. Not much noise around here, just the way I like it.

I like kids too, but don't really want to live close to them, I guess I'm getting old and set in my ways.

We're looking a house. They do carry on rather loudly. Once your own fly the nest, you really notice how much noise they make. My mom used to ask me how I could work with 6 or 7 kids running in and out of my office. (They weren't all mine, just 2 and 2 step kids, plus assorted friends). I honestly didn't notice them, I was so used to them. Now they are all gone, and the slightest interruption irritates me no end. Go figure.

So far, so good. Lots of trick-or-treaters, all very sweet and polite. (I love this neighborhood!)

Morgan, my Beagle, has been greeting everyone in her Tigger costume and loving every minute of it.

I did have to take a Kit Kat away from her. Yikes! But she didn't get any chocolate.

Simon kitty was annoyed by the bell, but has recovered. (Canned cat food therapy.)

Not a bad evening.

Hey Rottlady,

I got to your blog because someone on your sweet story about the letter to God post had linked to the story which was also posted on my site here:

Likewise, I had posted the story about the 15 lessons here:

Hi Amazing Susan, Thanks for your complement.

But please know it's customary to ask here at Newsvine if we mind if you post a link directing readers away from Newsvine to your own blog. Personally I would have preferred that you didn't but that's just me. It's too much like self-promotion on your part to do that.

Welcome to Newsvine and if you decide to stick around please read the Code of Honor. and the User Agreement. Also, folks are real nice here and are always glad to answer questions.

We live way out in the boon docks so there hasn't been a trick or treater around here in about 18 years. There's a couple bags of candy up on the book case that I have been thinking about opening just in case you know. I usually avoid sweets, but every once in awhile---------

My dog, Roxie, was supposed to be Roxy Hart from the musical, Chicago - little boots, a wig and just a scarf...no go! So she was just a dog for Halloween like every day - a big, spoiled, loved dog! Next year I'll try the spider; I loved that too.

Yes, she'll be a huge spider and I'm sure it will be a struggle. (By the way, I do put boots on Roxie along with a coat in winter so they are not really a costume. We do a lot of walking in the winter and there is so much salt on the road and even the snow gets frozen in her paws; it's just better for her feet to keep the boots on. A bit odd seeing a Shepherd dressed like that, I know, but no sore feet is a good thing.)
