In a first-of-its kind study, scientists reported today at the 238th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) that snack foods like popcorn and many popular breakfast cereals contain "surprisingly large" amounts of healthful antioxidant substances called "polyphenols." Polyphenols are a major reason why fruits and vegetables — and foods like chocolate, wine, coffee, and tea — have become renowned for their potential role in reducing the risk of heart disease, cancer, and other diseases.
This is really good news for me because I love my popcorn!
Me too, and Oh Yeah, Captain Crunch! The sugar is still an issue though.........
Oh yeah, Captain Crunch is great I love that cereal. But just like you I can't (or shouldn't) eat it...
I switched my breakfast a couple of years ago to mostly cheerios, lactose free milk, and blueberries. No sugar. It's interesting to hear the results of this study, I have always heard good things about oat bran.
I still love doughnuts and pastry though, but try to ration them a bit and get some balance in my diet. Every little bit helps...?
Yeah! Yet another excuse to eat more pasta!
Someone needs to come up with some good reasons to drink Coke and eat steak. I know I'm all for it.
