I have been taking pictures of the birds that visit my feeders for one year now. That's because one year ago I bought my first digital camera. It's not an expensive camera, just a point and shoot but I like it. But back to the birds...I have a bunch of feeders hanging on the eve of my porch and I also throw seeds out on the drive for the ground feeders. I am learning to identify some of the birds that visit, I had to buy a book But some that visit are still a mystery to me. That's ok though because I still like to watch them even if I don't know what they are. Most of my shots are taken through the window on my storm door which of course means I have to try to keep that window clear of smudges which is a challenge sometimes. I'm posting my pictures for your viewing pleasure and hope you enjoy my window view!
Here is a couple of short poems I thought went along with this nicely:
A Bird
A bird came down the walk,
He did not know I saw;
He bit an angleworm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw.
And then he drank a dew
From a convenient grass,
And then hopped sidewise to the wall
To let a beetle pass.
by Emily Dickinson
If I Were A Bird
If I were a bird, I'd sing a song
And fly about the whole day long
And when the night comes, go to rest,
Up in my cozy little nest.
