Coyotes (Canis latrans) are close relatives of wolves and domestic dogs and can breed with either animal. Coyotes are not only abundant in Missouri, they're the most widely distributed large predator in North America. They have a range extending from coast to coast and from Costa Rica to Alaska. The coyote is one of the few mammals whose range is increasing despite human impacts on its habitat.
